The Remete shrine of the Most Faithful Mother Lawyer of Croatia has been known as a place of silence, prayer and peace since the beginning of its existence. This character of this special destination was recognized by numerous church dignitaries such as Archbishop Bauer, Cardinal Kuharić and Cardinal Stepinac. The administrators of the sanctuary, from Pavlin to today’s Carmelites, understood the specifics of this place and promoted it as a destination of longing for those looking for a location to conduct longing and secret prayers. This place, in addition to the blessings of the nature that surrounds it, is mostly complemented by works of art such as Ivan Ranger’s wall paintings, sumptuous altars and statues of saints. The statue of Our Lady of Remete, on the other hand, is the central figure that gathers all the people who faithfully fill the church of Remete. All the mentioned factors that make this place with a turbulent past special and unique have imposed themselves as the perfect basis for another one of the numerous artistic upgrades to this shrine. The Ivan Filipović Chamber Choir, one of the most successful a cappella groups in Croatia, will give a Christmas concert in this sanctuary with their perspective on the sacred Christmas mystery. Viderent Dominum natum! We want you, together with us, to truly experience and see the born Lord through compositions that, like this church, from the Middle Ages until today, inspire and elevate the little man who longs for God’s closeness.
Join us on Sunday, January 14th, 2018 at 8 PM in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Remete (Ul. Ivana Česmičko 1).
